Dracaena

I am sure this is one of the dracaena genus but I still couldn’t find the exact name of it. I have checked in my The Complete Guide to Houseplants book but I couldn’t figure out if this belongs to Dracena Sanderiana or Dracaena Reflexa Variegata.

When I first bought her about 3 years ago, it was in a small pot. Now it has grown so big and I even take the cuttings and insert in another pot, creating an instant “tree” effect.

I am planning to give this new pot to a friend who is interested to try her hands in gardening for her new home. Hopefully her Dracaena will grow as tall as mine.

From what I read, it can grow up to 150cm height.

Ylang Ylang

I am happy to tell that my Ylang Ylang has been growing well since I transplant it to a bigger pot than the original black plastic it came from the nursery.

It took me some times to buy terra-cotta pots. The local store in front of my house usually stock up plastic pots and I just hate them.

True they are more lightweight compared to terra-cotta pots but I think terra-cotta would be more natural for my plants..haha!

I know Ylang Ylang can grow to be a big tree but since I am now collecting tropical fragrant flowering plants, I will give myself a chance to enjoy it before it grows taller than me.

Today the green flower has turn yellowish as it should. I have been smelling it as I water other plants in my garden. Natural aromatherapy, huh!

New Pandan Plants

I have been very busy with my other obligation that I neglect my garden and my gardening blog. Wish I have more time to devote to it. It’s sad to realize how much unloved and uncared for all my plants have been ever since I have been busy.

About 2 months ago my big pandan plant died. I used the leaves mostly for cooking chicken rice and making sweet delicacy. I think pandan leaves is like vanilla pod. You use them for the smell and aroma not really eating the leaves (unless in certain delicacy, you blend the leaves to get the strong fragrant plus the green essence).

So I finally found a nursery that sell herbs plants and I was going crazy with all the plants they have. I almost spent all the money in my wallet buying those flowering plants and herbs I have been dreaming to own for so long.

Now I know where to look for to add to my garden collection. Together with this pandan plants, I bought cempaka and kesidang. (I will take their pictures once they start flowering again) Those two are plants with strong fragrance flowers. Oh, there is another one but I can’t remember the local name.

I have to check the list that the nursery owner gave me. They even prepared a list of all available tropical herbs and plants. Next time I have to tick which one I already bought for easy reference..haha!
